Throwback Thursday

I know the meaning of throwback Thursday is to go WAY back...but I just have to post these pics of my babies right after they were born and what they look like now! Grady and Adalynn are such a blessing to us and we are so thankful to have been given such healthy, happy babies!

Happy Thursday everyone!

We're still doing great!

It has been a little while since my last post, and I have to say that that is because my babies are doing so good, that I rarely have time to update (oh and the fact that there is 2 of them! hehe). Since my last update, nothing much has changed with the babies. Today we had a doctor's appointment for their 4 month check up and we got nothing but a great report. The babies are still gaining weight very well. Grady now weighs 12 lbs. 2.5 oz. and Adalynn weighs 10 lbs. 13.5 oz. Needless to say....the babies are getting a little heavy!! :) We can now go out and about with the babies. Since they have been home we have pretty much been on house arrest, only taking them to family's houses and the doctor. I am very excited about being able to take the babies places....it will give me a chance to show them off ;)!

For the past week, the babies have been sleeping through the night. Praise Jesus, HALLELUJAH! Their sleeping through the night could not have come at a better time. Two babies and lack of sleep made for one tired, and irritable mommy! I am sure that Taylor is so happy that I am getting more sleep because I am in a much better mood! haha

On another note, the babies are still receiving my breast milk. Grady doesn't get as much as Adalynn because he is supplemented with an Acid Reflux formula, but he still gets enough to do him good! Adalynn gets my breast milk for every feeding except for two. For those two feedings she gets a special preemie formula. The babies are so healthy and I know that it has a lot to do with them getting the good old liquid gold!

This past weekend the babies got to make their first trip to Grandmama and Granddaddy's house. (Taylor's parents) We had such a good time visiting with family. It was extra special considering it was the first time for Grady and Adalynn to meet their cousins; Hudson, Harper, and Hadley. Hudson was very sweet with the babies and he would make sure to tell me if they were crying. Harper and Hadley are getting so big! They would crawl over to the babies and try to take their pacifiers. It was so cute!

I go back to work on April 3rd. I originally thought I was going to get to stay out for the rest of the year, but I was wrong. The district only allows you to be out so many days so I have to go back. I am anxious to get back in the groove and start a routine with my babies. I know my  mom is ready to start watching the babies full time! :) It has been a blessing getting this much time off from work! I also owe a big thank you to my team at school....they have been so helpful with my class and I am so thankful for each of them.

And for your viewing pleasure.....

Much love to all,

Jessica

3 Months!

3 Months sure did fly by! I can't believe my babies are 3 months old already. Since my last post, a few things have been going on and I am glad that I can update all of you with good news.

Grady has been growing so fast. At his last doctor's appointment this past Monday, he weighed 9 pounds, 5 ounces. He is very alert these days and is following things with his eyes. He is also holding up his head very well....it is amazing to see how strong he is. He loves laying on his belly and looking at himself in a mirror. Just recently Grady developed a little congestion and has also developed reflux. It was a little rough at first dealing with the reflux, but it is much better now! He is still waking every 3 hours to eat and hopefully in the next month or so, he will be sleeping through the night! (A mom can only hope right?) He is eating 4 ounces.

There is no doubt that Grady belongs to Taylor Macon! Haha!

Adalynn is also growing super fast. We went to Texas Children's on Thursday for some tests and she weighed 8 pounds 15 ounces. The test she went through was to determine if she needed oxygen or not. We went home on Thursday with no results but we got a call on Friday saying that she did not need her oxygen anymore. She still needs the heart monitor, but she doesn't have to wear it 24/7. We have to check her stats about 4-5 times a day. She is also very alert these days and holds up her head. She follows objects with her eyes and she smiles when you poke at her cheeks! She likes playing on her play mat and also likes to look at herself in the mirror. She is eating 4 ounces and wakes every 3 hours to eat.

Our little diva!

Grady has always been bigger but they are starting to even out in size!

Jessica

Due Date

It is shocking to think that today was my scheduled due date for my babies. They have almost been with us for 3 months now, and it is just so weird to think that they could have been born today. I know that carrying twins I wouldn't have gone this far but it is still a very odd feeling. It has been non-stop since they have been home with us but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Since they have both been home, it has been a lot of eating and sleeping! :) Adalynn is still on oxygen when she eats and has a heart rate monitor hooked to her at all times. It is very comforting to know that if something were to happen with her heart rate or breathing that her machine would tell me something was wrong. Thankfully, the monitor has not had a very tough job, she has been maintaining a good heart rate and respiratory rate the entire time she has been home. On February 7th, we go for an appointment at Texas Children's to see if she can be off of the machine and oxygen entirely! Pray for that please! Other than that Adalynn is a very easy going baby and rarely makes a fuss (knock on wood). Brother Grady on the other hand, he is a different story. If he gets hungry, he will sure tell you about it! He is growing like a weed and at our last doctor's appointment he weighed 7 pounds 13 ounces. He is beginning to stay awake more through out the day and loves tummy time on his play mat. We go on Monday for another appointment with their pediatrician and we are expecting him to be well over 8 pounds!

Life could not be better at the Macon house! Don't get me wrong, going from 0 children to 2 has been quite an adjustment, but one that we are enjoying every day. My mom is now a stay at home grandma and she comes by daily to help me with the babies. If it weren't for her I would probably be going crazy about right now. I am very thankful that God has allowed her to be with me at this time and I thank Him every day for her.

I leave you today with a pic of my babies all dressed up to celebrate their due date! Taylor always asks why I dress them up so much...and quite frankly it's just because I want to. And on the other hand...if I don't, they may not get a chance to wear everything! Thank you Aunt Candi for our precious outfits....we sure look good in them!

I am going to keep trying to update my blog, so keep checking back!

Much love,
Jessica

2 Months!

Well...today we celebrated Grady and Adalynn's 2 month birthday by going to the doctor for their 2 month check up. This was our first time to meet their Pediatrician and I was very happy with who we chose. The nurses were very sweet and wanted to get a good look at the Macon twins! Grady weighed 7 pounds 1 ounce today and Adalynn weighed 6 pounds 5 ounces. They both have doubled their birth weight! The doctor said that they were looking great and that he was very impressed with how well they were doing! I have to say that I was one proud momma! I do have to say....it felt like I packed up my house today just to go to the doctor. I had the diaper bag full of stuff I thought I might need, both babies and their car seats, Adalynn's oxygen, Adalynn's heart rate monitor, and the bus of a stroller I have. Loading and unloading is a whole lot of work and thank goodness Taylor was there to help me. I have learned today that I will not be going many places with the twins and I will have to have someone with me if I do!

As you all know, Adalynn came home this past Saturday and we are so glad to have our whole family under one roof. It has been quite the adjustment I will say, with the biggest adjustment being lack of sleep. (And instead of sleeping right now, here I am writing on my blog!) But it has been an adjustment for the better though. Grady and Adalynn are such sweet babies and it helped that they were already on a schedule when the came home. Tomorrow Taylor goes back to work and I will be on mommy duty! I am a bit nervous, but excited too! Thank you all for all the kind words and prayers throughout this whole journey. After a 57 day stay in the NICU, we are very happy to begin our journey as parents and as a family unit! So keep reading the blog for more updates!

And now I leave you all with the babies 2 month pictures....It was hard work and they didn't want to cooperate. I honestly think they are tired of having their pictures taken! haha!

All Grady wanted to do was yawn while I was taking his picture.

And the drama begins...I don't know why but all Adalynn wanted to do was cry!

Adalynn says "NO kisses brother!"

There Adalynn is....mad again and Grady is just chilling!! :)

Almost home!

I hope that you all enjoyed your Christmas....ours was very busy but we enjoyed every minute of it! This week has flown by!

Grady was increased to full feeds with a bottle, so no more of that feeding tube! He looks so cute with out all of that stuff on his face. As of today he weighed 6 lbs. 4 oz. :) Grady is expected to be discharged on Monday or Tuesday! We are so excited!

Adalynn has had a bit of a rough week. We were trying to push her to keep up with her brother, but she just wasn't ready. Today she was put back on oxygen to help her out a little. We were wanting her to take 8 bottles a day and finish them, breathe on her own, gain weight and grow, and it was all just a little too much for her. We are going to be patient with her, and let her get ready to come home on her own time. She did get to try out a bouncy seat though...and she loved it! As of today, she weighed 5 lbs. 9 oz.

I mentioned to the doctor on the 25th that I did not want to bring one baby home without the other, but we were told today that they could not make that happen. Insurance will not cover Grady to stay at Texas Children's when he doesn't need to be there. Which of course is understandable. So as of right now, we are not sure when Adalynn will come home, we are hoping in a week or so. It has been a long journey and we are anxiously awaiting the day when both of our babies will be home with us. Right now, all we can do is keep praying and wait!

Love,
Jessica and Taylor
